Kunth, C. leucocephala Moric. e C. rufescens A.DC.), Heliotropium (H. angiospermum Murray e Heliotropium elongatum (Lehm.) I.M. Johnst.) e Tournefortia (T. rubicunda Salzm. ex A.DC. e T. salzmannii DC.). São apresentadas chaves para identificação de gêneros e espécies, além de descrições, ilustrações, comentários, dados de distribuição e hábitat. |

Raso da Catarina is one of the eight Ecoregions recognized for the Caatinga biome. This work includes the taxonomic study of Boraginales Juss. ex Bercht. & J.Presl in the Ecoregion Raso da Catarina, Bahia state, Brazil. The samples analyzed were collected from March 2009 to July 2013. The analyses were supplemented with dried collections kept in the herbaria: ALCB, IPA, HRB, HST, HTSA, HUEFS, HVASF, PEUFR and UFP. Two families, five genera and 16 species were recorded. The Cordiaceae family was represented by genera Cordia L. [C. glabrata (Mart.) A.DC., C. rufescens A.DC., C. superba Cham. and C. trichotoma (Vell.) Arráb. exSteud.] and Varronia P.Browne [V. curassavica Jacq., V. globosa Jacq., V. leucocephala (Moric.) J.S.Mill. and V. leucomalloides... |

Abstract: Aechmea is one of the largest genera of Bromeliaceae, having more than 250 species, and Brazil is its principal center of endemism. We taxonomically examined the species of Aechmea encountered in Paraíba State in northeastern Brazil. Our analyses were based on specimens collected during the present study, as well as examinations of local and regional herbaria collections. Eleven species were encountered to State: Aechmea aquilega, A. chrysocoma, A. costantinii, A. emmerichiae, A. eurycorymbus, A. fulgens, A. leptantha, A. mertensii, A. nudicaulis, A. patentissima, and A. werdermannii. Of those taxa, seven are endemic to northeastern Brazil and five are included within one of the threatened categories according to IUCN criteria, two of them being... |

Abstract: Specimens of phanerogamic plants from the Catimbau National Park, located in northeastern Brazil, were collected during extensive fieldwork and analyzed together with information gathered from the specialized literature. A total of 613 species was recorded, belonging to 366 genera and 85 families. The largest families were Fabaceae, Poaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Asteraceae, Convolvulaceae, Malvaceae, Myrtaceae, Apocynaceae, Malpighiaceae, and Cyperaceae, comprising almost 60% of the species. The level of endemism found was below that projected in the literature, as only four known species are unique to the study area. The area is, however, home to a varied flora with high richness and numerous rare or threatened species, demonstrating the importance of... |

Abstract: The Lamiaceae family includes about 7,000 species allocated in 236 genera, with almost cosmopolitan distribution, currently divided into nine subfamilies. In Brazil 46 genera and 525 species occur, distributed in four subfamilies. Among these subfamilies, Ajugoideae and Viticoideae were originally parts of the Verbenaceae family, being transferred to Lamiaceae as a result of several systematic studies on the two families. Ajugoideae is characterized by having drupes with four mericarps, non-persistent styles and pollen grains with exine formed by granular and branched columns. On the other hand, Viticoideae is characterized to have drupes with 4-locular pyrenes or 2 2-locular pyrenes and exine microreticulate or slightly rough. We present here... |
